The Reading Room has eBooks available on eReaders: Kindles and a Kindle Fire tablet (preloaded eBook titles are listed here) and Kobos (preloaded eBook titles are listed here).

Each eReader can be borrowed for 2 weeks (no renewals). Please provide your current UBCcard for ID.

Adobe Digital Editions on Workstations

The Reading Room has a number of eBooks, booklets and more available for viewing on Adobe Digital Editions, which has been installed on our public workstations. Logon to the public account to browse the available library.

Books 24x7 (UBC cancelled this eBook collection in July 2016)

Books24x7 is a collection of online computer science books dealing with all aspects of information technology including programming languages such as C++, operating systems such as Linux and Windows XP, applications such as ASP.NET, software such as Excel and Powerpoint, web design, computer gaming and software management.

Most titles cannot be downloaded or printed.

Available at the Vancouver Public Library. (Requires VPL card).

Lecture Notes in Computer Science (UBC Library information page)

O’Reilly for Higher Education includes tech and business content from more than 250 publishers, along with videos, case studies, learning paths and self-assessments. The platform includes more than 35K book titles plus 30K+ hours of video, learning paths, case studies, interactive tutorials, audio books, and videos from O’Reilly’s global conferences and 250 of the world’s best publishers.
Tips for creating an account: You will need a email address to create an account. If you create an account while on campus (either using a campus workstation on on ubcsecure wireless), it will become your permanent account, which you can use at home or on any computer. If you create an account while off-campus, the account will expire after 3 days.

A multidisciplinary database of full text publications published by Springer. Formats include ejournals, reference works, monographic series, lecture notes, and ebooks, available on the SpringerLink platform.
