Orientation Day for Grad Students
Welcome to Computer Science!
We are holding an Orientation Day for grad students on the first Tuesday of September. The event will be held from 8:30 AM to 6 PM. We will provide you with a broad introduction to the CS department, and we hope that you will gain some practical advice on adapting to the new environment.
All incoming students are expected to attend the day. We look forward to seeing you!
Schedule of the Day (subject to minor tweaks):
08:30 – 09:25 Breakfast
09:25 – 10:00 Intros from dept and CSGSA
10:00 – 11:00 Short talks by various individuals from the dept.
11:00 – 12:30 Scavenger Hunt
12:30 – 14:00 Lunch
14:00 – 15:00 Presentation and Q&A on MSc, PhD/PhD-Track programs, award application, etc.
15:00 – 15:30 Introduction to co-op option
15:30 – 16:00 Coffee Break
16:00 – 17:00 “CS Idol”: Talks from various research labs – all short and hopefully entertaining!
17:00 – 18:00 CSGSA take over to chat with students without faculty (e.g., grad course impressions)
18:00 onwards CSGSA social events (optional but encouraged to join)
