Dr. Friedlander has been named a 2024 SIAM Fellow
Congratulations to Computer Science Professor Michael Friedlander, who is named a 2024 SIAM Fellow. The award recognizes outstanding members of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) for distinguished contribution to their discipline.
Professor Friedlander is being recognized for theoretical and applied contributions to convex and nonconvex optimization.
Dr. Friedlander is an outstanding researcher and teacher, as well as Director of the UBC Institute of Applied Mathematics.
He has won teaching awards from the department, and Best Paper awards from various conferences/associations over the years.
