Title: From idea to reality, the twists & turns of building a business without startup funding

Abstract:

Mobify Research & Development (www.mobify.com) was first incorporated as Handi Mobility in 2007.  Over a period of five years, Mobify has grown from three friends with an idea for making transit easier for residents of Vancouver to a platform for mobile & tablet web with global customers including Starbucks, British Telecom, Siemens, Bose, Lululemon and Honda.

I'll discuss how we first entered the marketplace, the changes to our market position as we grew and evolved (a fancy word for "pivot") as well as our most significant missteps and successes. I'll also talk about the rapidly changing technology landscape of mobile, how it has impacted our platform & products over the past 5 years, as well as the dramatic changes such as responsive web design that continue to redefine our business.
