Here's a quote from Robert:

"There is only so much you can do with a paper resume.  With an electronic portfolio, you can showcase technical projects (especially web applications) in more detail than what is written on paper.
Also, an on-line portfolio gives a better insight to prospective employers more about your interests outside of school.  People always say to try to 'make a connection' with interviewers through some sort of common interest, and an portfolio allows you to do that without making it awkward to bring up random topics during an interview session.

Plus, if you always wanted to get into web development, this is a good place to start as there are many tools out there good for beginners (Wordpress/drupal) and more advanced users (custom PHP/HTML5/JavaScript/JQuery scripts)."
