Arvin Sahami

Arvin Sahami, a third-year undergraduate student in honours computer science and mathematics, won a prestigious Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher award from the Computing Research Association. 

This award recognizes students with outstanding research potential in all areas of computer science across North America, and there are only four awardees each year. Arvin is only the fourth Canadian winner ever and the second from UBC. His award is for research in randomized algorithms and mathematical statistics conducted with Professor Nick Harvey last summer, while supported by an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award.
