Newly elected ACM fellow Gail Murphy receives IEEE Harlan Mills Award

UBC Computer Science Professor and Vice President Research & Innovation Gail Murphy is the recipient of the 2018 IEEE Computer Society Harlan Mills Award.  The prestigious award was established in memory of Harlan D. Mills to recognize 'researchers and practitioners who have demonstrated long-standing, sustained, and impactful contributions to software engineering practice'.  This is the most prestigious IEEE research award in software engineering, and Professor Murphy is recognized for her 'outstanding research on understanding software development practices and tools that improve the productivity of developers'.  Full details can be found here.

Just last month, Professor Murphy was also named a ACM Fellow for making transformative contributions and advancing technology in the digital age.  According to ACM President Vicki Hanson, ACM Fellows are 'an elite group that represents less than 1 percent of ACM’s overall membership'. Congratulations, Gail!
