When you stand out amongst your peers, not only should you be recognized, but you should be rewarded too. The UBC Science 'Excellence in Service Award' does just that.
At an in-person ceremony on Wednesday, March 2, Constance Wun, Co-op Coordinator and Joël Pittet, Web Applications Team Lead, both of UBC Computer Science, received the well-deserved award along with four other UBC Science staff.
An award to recognize excellence
The awards were created to recognize staff, students and faculty whose service contributions have had a significant positive impact in achieving UBC Science's mission. A maximum of six staff (including one PDF or RA) and two faculty receive awards of $2,000 each and two students receive $1,000.
Constance is the most senior Co-op Coordinator in the UBC Science Co-op Program, having joined computer science 16 years ago. Constance’s service to the university and the students she supports has greatly helped the Faculty of Science to progress in the core areas of people, education, research and engagement. Constance is fully committed to supporting student success and education, and strengthening external connections to enhance public contributions.
Joël’s excellence in going above and beyond his job requirements during his nearly six years of employment. He is the team lead of four web developers who are constantly in motion developing and supporting applications to manage an enormous volume of students, faculty and staff, and complexities associated with a growing and vibrant department.
We wish both Constance and Joel a hearty congratulations and thank you for their devoted service to the department and faculty.
