Role Overview

The Principal Cloud DevOps Engineer will lead the design, modernization, and optimization of cloud and hybrid infrastructure. This role involves developing Infrastructure as Code, implementing CI/CD pipelines, managing containerized environments, and shaping the strategic direction of platform operations. The position requires deep AWS expertise, strong automation skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable, secure cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS)

• Evaluate and modernize infrastructure, tools, and workflows

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.

• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment

• Implement and manage containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/ECS)

• Automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and incident response

• Design monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system performance

• Promote DevOps culture and best practices across teams

• Implement and manage cloud security, IAM, and compliance policies

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

• 8+ years in DevOps/SRE roles focused on cloud infrastructure

• 3+ years of experience developing in a compiled language (C++ or C# preferred)

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, IAM, etc.)

• Proven experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation

• Strong scripting experience

• Experience deploying and maintaining Docker/Kubernetes environments

• Strong understanding of networking, cloud security, and distributed systems

• Effective communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

• Experience building Node.js, C++, or .NET applications

• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana)

Compensation

Target Base Salary: $140,000 – $170,000 CAD
Salary is based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
