UBC Wesbrook Scholar
Computer Science student Alice Fredine is named a 2017 UBC Wesbrook Scholar. The Wesbrook Scholars are among the university's most prestigious designations, given to senior students with outstanding academic performance, leadership, and involvement in student and community activities.
Alice is currently in her final year of pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. Throughout her degree, she has been on the Dean's list and received, among others, the Chancellor's Scholar Award and the Trek Excellence Scholarship for her academic excellence. She has been involved in many Women in Computer Science initiatives, including the Computer Science Tri-Mentoring program.
Alice did her co-op terms at Hootsuite and Google, where she took a special interest in understanding how unconscious biases were formed in the workplace. She also competed in various app development competitions, and was placed first in the Archiact Game Jam, and second in the national IBM/TD Coding Competition.
Alice looks forward to pursuing her tech career at Google in Seattle upon graduation.
