ICCV Test-of-Time Award

David Lowe wins the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) "Test of Time" Award for his 1999 paper "Object Recognition from Local Scale-Invariant Features".  The award was presented at the ICCV conference in Barcelona on Nov. 8, 2011.   It is given to a paper that has stood the test of time and has been shown to have significant and long term impact on the field of Computer Vision. According to Google Scholar, this paper has been cited more than 3,000 times and the journal version of the paper has received over 12,000 citations.  His SIFT method described in this paper has been licensed by UBC to over a dozen companies.
