UBC Computer Science Welcomes Dr. Frank Wood

UBC Computer Science welcomes Dr. Frank Wood, who will be joining our department as an Associate Professor in April, 2018.  Frank is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.  He received his PhD from Brown University, and was an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Columbia University and a research scientist at the Columbia Center for Computational Learning Systems before moving to Oxford.  Prior to his academic career he was also a successful entrepreneur with the content-based image retrieval company ToFish!  His research interests span probabilistic programming, machine learning, and statistics.

Dr. Wood is the recipient of the AISTATS best paper award in 2009, and faculty research awards from Xerox, Google and Amazon.
