Karon came to UBC in 2000 from Interval Research Inc. in Palo Alto; she received her graduate degrees from MIT and a Bachelor's from Stanford University. Her early fascination with how muscles work morphed into an interest in making robots that people physically interact with... and has delved into other haptic things like how we communicate emotion through touch. UBC is good - Vancouver has mountains, water, good coffe and lots of interesting people.
