Data Integration

In this class we will cover data integration as an example of manipulating metadat. There are two readings:

Alon Y. Levy, Anand Rajaraman, Joann J. Ordille: Querying Heterogeneous Information Sources Using Source Descriptions. VLDB 1996: 251-262. When reading this paper, skip Section 4.1, don't worry about the class hierarchy in Section 2, and try to think of the rules as just being standard Datalog rules.

Note that the first paper was the winner of the VLDB test of time award. The second paper is what was published in response to this award.
