530A - Probabilistic Machine Learning

Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:00pm-3:30pm.

This is a stantard introductory course to machine learning. It combines probabilistic modelling with statistical inference, optimisation and lots of interesting applications to computer graphics, bio-informatics, information retrieval, digital databases, vision, robotics and AI.

The pre-requisites are linear algebra and calculus. Students will be examined with homework assignments and research projects. The projects will favour students with good theoretical skills and/or students with good practical skills.
