Research Tips

  • The NSERC website login can be found at https://ebiz.nserc.ca/nserc_web/nserc_login_e.htm
  • The "normal" NSERC program that everyone applies to is the discovery grant. You need to submit an "intent to apply" form 180 by August 15th, though that's a soft deadline.
  • The office of UBC VP Research (VPRO) is at http://www.research.ubc.ca/. They have an incomplete calendar at http://info.research.ubc.ca/calendar_grid.asp which may show some funding opportunities. You have to login to get a full listing of what they have, but there's not a lot extra there. To get a password, you have to request a login and password from their site.
  • The VPRO holds a workshop on NSERC discovery grants in September, which is well worth attending.
  • The office of research services is at http://www.orsil.ubc.ca/, but I'm not sure how useful they are.
