This page collects a concise pointers to essential information/resources that one must know about as a new faculty in the department.

General resources

  • My CS. Where most CS faculty resources are posted.

Grants

  • Common CV (CCV) portal. You need a CCV to apply for most NSERC grants. Create an account and start looking around. Creating a CCV takes a long time.

  • Consider applying to become associated with the Peter Wall Institute, an inter-disciplinary research institute on campus.

Teaching and supervision

  • Piazza. A widely-used forum/class management software.

  • FSC portal. FSC stands for faculty services centre. This is where you enter student grades, get information on students in your class.

  • GATs 2014 system login. GATS stands for Graduate Applicant Tracking System. This is the link to the one for 2014 incoming students. It's good to log in, take a look at one of the student's file to familiarize yourself with who is coming/you may want to recruit. Link to GATs 2013.

  • CS graduate handbook

HR

  • MSP portal. Main HR portal where you can track your grants, pay/tax deductions, benefits, etc.

Facilities and equipment

  • Arranging to paint your office/find furniture for your office: ?

Miscellaneous

  • Personalize your CS profile page. Most folks add at least a photo, links to labs, and a link to homepage.
