Realtime Frequency-Based Cadence Detection Algorithm

Start Year:
2009
End Year:
2014

To guide walking rate, we detect cadence and cue individual steps with minimal attentional impact. This work took several steps:

1. Detecting sensitivity at various places on the body to tactile cues during walking

2. Measuring cadence in realtime with a commodity smartphone that is robust to location on the body.

3. Establishing if people's walking cadence be cued with attention, and ...

4. If it still works when they are distracted in various ways.
