Access Control
https://secweb.cs.ubc.ca/jsp.10/external/DoorAccess/ACMS.jsp
Rationale
The amount of access given to any person is determined by their role(s) with the department.
Faculty/Staff
Faculty and staff will have access to almost all areas of the buildings, including Computer Science labs, offices and research areas.
The only restricted areas are communication rooms, server rooms and tech staff storage rooms, as well as archival and admin storage, admin offices and the Head’s office.
Graduate Students
Grad students will be given access to all public areas, such as kitchens
and photocopy rooms.
They also have access to all the grad bullpens and undergrad project labs.
The research labs are restricted to members of that
particular lab and grad students require signed access from an associated
faculty member.
Co-op Administration
The co-op administrators will receive a unique key for their office and
undergrad project labs.
They will also have access to kitchens and photocopy
rooms.
Visitors
Visitors will be given limited access depending on the length of their stay
with the department.
Visitors will be grouped into the following: 0 to 1 month, 1 to 12 months, more than one year.
Only long term visitors (one or more years) will be given the same access as grad students, but without the access to the department office or the photocopy room in room 212.
This is under review while the visitor process is
being established.
Post Docs
Postdocs will be given the same access control as faculty to research labs and common space, department office, but will only receive a unique key for their office.
