For many people, running 10 kilometres during an event like next weekend’s Sun Run seems like a challenging task. It needs a lot of ambition to go further and participate in a marathon, running more than 42 kilometres in a row. But for a certain type of people, covering a distance as far as from UBC to Burnaby and back is just the beginning: In my talk I will introduce you to some of the longest running events on the planet, in which people spend days running through the dessert, or weeks doing lap after lap around a single block.
