Abstract
We’re very lucky to have been born in the 20th century. Back in the day people used to live to be 40 years old and a flu usually led to death. But then scientists came up with awesome things like germ theory, vaccines, antibiotics and all of the things that have lead to us having a crapload of healthy baby boomers that will need our help learning to use email for many years to come. Hurray for modern medicine! Hip hip… oh wait. There is a growing community that prefers to use unproven medicines to cure their ailments. This of course has lead to many companies keen to produce and sell these “alternative” treatments . And why not? R&D costs for FDA approved medicine are in the millions. It’s expensive to prove that your medicine works and is safe. There’s a lot more profit in the holistic business. Plus you can promise anything without being accountable. In my talk I’ll provide an unbiased overview of CAM (completentary alternative medicine).
