GIRLsmarts
- GIRLsmarts is an outreach program affiliated with the Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). This program is offered as part of a Focus on Women in Computer Science Committee outreach initiative. FoWCS is a committee of the Computer Science department involved with increasing the participation of women in computer science at all academic levels.
- The success of this program has depended on the generous volunteer support from across the department, including many graduate students.

TechTrek
- TechTrek is an annual weekend seminar series aimed at developing an interest in computer science in high school students through hand-on activities and short presentations by faculty and industry representatives.
- This series also greatly benefits from the volunteer support from the graduate student members.
