This is an ongoing "blog" or status update on the UIF

Thurs Aug 3
   * long paper was accepted at euroSSC!
   * revised short paper, added mention of ECT service-property mapping, related work, mention of application abstraction.  Found LNCS endnote style and revised paper to use it (allowed 9 point font).  Small grammar errors.  I think it is ready to go.

Wed Aug 2

   * finished implementing and tested a simple event last Thursday
   * talked about scheduling thesis proposal with CK.
   * added idea of application or client to model, still not sure.
   * looking at CoMoRea for submitting paper, also Pervasive in Toronto.
   * Started revising long paper based on MF feedback.
   * made minor changes to Ubisys paper to be camera ready
   * focus is to revise Ubisys paper (another day only - 1 page), read previous CoMoRea papers and write outline for this workshop
   * started installing PlaceMedia, reviewing code.

Remainder of the week/early next
   * read up on Context Fabric, write related work section, make other minor improvements to paper
   * get PM installed on laptop
   * test PM on desktop and laptop
   * draft paper for CoMoRea

Tues July 25
   * continuing work on implementing and testing event interface using model browser, then will start integration with PlaceMedia
   * added new event methods (add subscription, get subscriptions)
   * added event test jsp, servlet etc for prototype events to browser
   * model is database backed
   * getting context from browser works now
   * made small changes to model for eventTypes and eventNames and associated rules
   * added support for login/out, getting events to model UI (not done)
   * to auto generate a test UI we need a service/event/context description.  Perhaps we can use some code that generates HTML from WSDL.
   * we should be able to easily generate XML to/from Parameters.

Notes:
   * may want to serialize Parameter to XML so it can be displayed easily (on context value return and getting events)
   * need to have a clean break between prototype and platform - more refactoring
   * need client SDK for facade as well with required types
   * integration components should live in a separate JAR file


Friday July 21 2006
   * refactoring all "callService" and invoke calls to use Parameters rather than objects, all the way down to the service level.
   * Must ensure that no Java 5 code is used in files where XDoclet is required.
   * environment browser service calls mostly working now
