   * extract polygons coordinates from shapefile
   * extract population data
   * create semi-transparent PNG file
   * aggregate data (for zooming)
   * speed, speed, speed

---++ Planned status
Extract one polygon (one census tract), extract population data for that polygon, and create a PNG file with that polygon transparently colored.


---++ Challenges
   * setting up environment
   * learning libraries (gd transparency a pain)
   * dynamic vs. static linking, big problem
