It's open to US and Canadian faculty members. The ligibility requirements are as of the application year you must: * be in your first, second, or third year as a faculty member * be in your first faculty position * be no more than 6 years from the completion of your most recent !PhD * be the only one nominated by your university ---+++Fellowship sources: * NSERC has fellowships for Canadian Masters and !PhD students. More information can be found at http://www.nserc.gc.ca/sf_e.asp?nav=sfnav&lbi=2a * Applications are due late September * UGF fellowships: http://www.grad.ubc.ca/awards/index.asp?menu=004,000,000,000 * Internal to UBC. * Applications due in late September. * Can be made to international students, but some students (e.g., those coming directly from mainland China) may be ineligible based on the systems that their transcripts use * Canadian students who apply must also apply for NSERC fellowships (see above) * IBM fellowships: http://www.developer.ibm.com/university/scholars/fellowship/phd/ Students must be !PhD students who have completed at least one year in their !PhD program at the time of application. * Microsoft Research fellowships: http://www.research.microsoft.com/aboutmsr/jobs/fellowships/default.aspx Students must be in their second or third year of a !PhD program. Limit of 3 applications per department per year; applications must be made through the department head.
