1) Dates

For the upcoming Imager Lab dept. demo for the new CS grad. students (and others in the dept.), please e-mail me <swindell@cs.ubc.ca> by Sept. 29 with which dates work best for you. They are all on Tuesdays from 12 - 2 because this has been a common slot scheduled by the dept. to ensure the fewest class conflicts.

Tuesday, Oct. 11; 12 pm - 2 pm

Tuesday, Oct. 18; 12 pm - 2 pm

Tuesday, Oct. 25; 12 pm - 2 pm

2) Format

The proposed format is similar to prev. years:

a) Each faculty member gives a 5 min overview of their research and their grad. students in X736.

b) Start freeform demo sessions in

  • Imager Lab
  • MUX
  • Human Measuring Studio
  • Physical Simulation & Measurement Lab
  • Other places?

Extra notes:

  • Brown bag session? I assume we do not need to worry about providing food & refreshments?
  • Have maps and signage in each lab; with a list of demos & people.
  • Is there a way to get security to disable the door alarms for the session? Does anyone have little magnets to override the sensors?
  • Have a data projector for the short talks?
  • Dan has offered to arrange demos and the actual day's events.
  • Current planning info. will be updated here
