Issues with Integrating GIS and Relational Data

  • Projection - each GIS file must have the same projection to be able to conduct any sort of spatial analysis
    • A GIS file's projection is provided as metadata

Issues with Integrating GIS and Relational Data

  • Projection - each GIS file must have the same projection to be able to conduct any sort of spatial analysis
    • A GIS file's projection is provided as metadata
  • Relational data often does not have a location that is in a format
    • For example, often the data is specified at a city, regional or provincial level; and, a spatial position in terms of latitude and longitude (or as Cartesian coordinates) is not provided
