YouTube restricts videos to 10 minutes for typical accounts. There are commercial and educational (YouTube EDU) exceptions. There is one such license per educational institution, so there is a single submission path that all UBC-related videos need to take. For our department, the communications committee currently acts as a gatekeeper for CS Dept videos. The current quality of talks on the UBC channel is variable.

YouTube used to restrict video length, but as of September 2011, they lifted that restriction for accounts in good standing. (You have to provide a cell phone number.)
