Beta Lab Water Cooler

General Information

Water is essential to life. The United States National Research Council (I was too lazy to find the Canadian equivalent) recommends intaking 2.7 litres/day for women and 3.7 litres/day for men. (1)

The Beta Lab Water Cooler (BLWC) is managed and funded by individual Beta Lab Members.

The current BLWC Czar is DaveTompkins -- all questions and payments should be directed toward him.

Water is provided by Canadian Springs. We receive some discounts as members of the UBC community.

General Policy

• New users of the BLWC should sign up on the sheet beside the cooler and indicate their startup date.
• It's okay to provide occasional lab visitors and guests with water
• Lab visitors staying longer than a week should sign up

Billing Policy

• Billing will happen at the END of each semester and be based on the average consumption for that semester
• All users are treated equally, independent of water consumption
• Users that participate for only a portion of the semester will be billed by the month: any period greater than 7 days shall be considered a full month
• End-of-Semester payments may be rounded up or down for convenience, but the balance will be carried over
• Payments should be made directly to the Czar (DaveTompkins) preferrably in Cash
• Users will continue to be billed until they leave the system. People wishing to leave the system (or who will be away for an extended period of time) should contact the Czar.
