Startup Experience: Using AI for E-Commerce

Abstract:
Jan Ulrich and Maryam Mahdaviani started Optemo after graduating with a Master's degree from UBC. Optemo provides navigation and product recommendations as software-as-a-service to large retailers such as Best Buy and Futureshop. In this talk I will be focusing on the various techniques we've used from AI, user interface design, and preference modeling to provide a better shopping experience online. Part of the talk will focus on the feedback and results we've seen from real users. I will also be there to answer anyone's questions.
