Past and future challenges in probabilistic inference

This might my last opportunity to
give a talk in front of the lab, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to
describe my experiences and my perspectives on probabilistic inference. The
content of this talk is mostly non-technical---my intent is to give a frank
overview of the challenges of inference in probabilistic models, and to suggest
a way in which we should think about approaching these challenges.
