Experienced Data Science Content Developer

Working with VisuaLearning: Partner with us to help accelerate the delivery of data literacy in the Canadian education sector. Our goal is to work with educators to develop and deliver an integrated data literacy program. We will work with education institutions across Canada to ensure learners build the confidence, competence, and ambition to use data to benefit their future careers in any field. Doing the right thing with data is at the heart of what we do. With a “data for good” mindset underpinning our curriculum, learners will understand their data rights and responsibilities while gaining skills to enable them to collect, analyze and interpret real-world data and make informed decisions critically and ethically.

About this role: The aim of our flagship Data literacy Program (DLP) is to increase the data skills for learners in higher education or those preparing for entry level jobs in the digital era. VisuaLearning is seeking an experienced data science content developer to:

  • Create a well-structured and comprehensive DLP that can be delivered online and in-class
  • Lead and oversee the curation and creation of supporting resources and material to help educators and learners navigate the DLP learning path
  • Utilize VisuaLearning’s well-established, statistical literacy based, DLP Curriculum Framework to develop an interdisciplinary data education curriculum
  • Harness cost effective software tools to be used by learners for data gathering, analysis and visualization – free, subsidized for educational use or open-source tools

We are looking for:

  • Post graduate degree in Data Science or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an instructor preferably in a Data Science capacity. Extensive knowledge in R or Python data analysis
  • Proficient in Statistics and Machine Learning from both theoretical and applied perspectives
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models and experience in curriculum development is highly valued.
  • A good sense of the relevance and application of academic data science to industry domains
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and training
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization
