Women in Science and Engineering Conference

The Women in Science and Engineering Conference is happening on March 12, 2012 from 5:30-8:00pm at Cecil Green Park House at UBC. It is organized by Women in Engineering, Sci-Team and E-Team. The conference website is https://wie.engineering.ubc.ca/ and pre-registration is required so we can match students with their mentor choices.



The Canadian Celebration of Women in Computing (CAN-CWiC) 2016 will unite technical women from across Canada for networking, mentoring and planning for Canada's technical future.  The conference will inspire women at all points in their careers - from first year students to senior technical women with years of industrial experience.   The career fair will provide an excellent opportunity for companies to recruit technical talent from across Canada.

Several projects were funded by the National Science Foundation to encourage women to participate in science and engineering. This report details projects undertaken to help improve the number of women through a change in education policy and pracice.

Taking GIRLSmarts Workshop to Downtown Eastside

Girlsmarts 2012

Riding on the success of the 2011 GIRLsmarts workshops, UBC CS graduate students Sarah Rastka, Anika Mahmud and Mona Haraty expanded the workshops this year to downtown eastside.  The three coordinators brought a group of volunteers to the UBC Learning Exchange on Main Street and offer interactive activities to Grade 6 girls from East Vancouver schools.  Participants learn to build their own websites using html and make their own games and animation using Kudo.
