About Me

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science at University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. My research interests lie mainly in the field of machine learning and its application to computer vision. My goal is to develop algorithms and systems that can learn to perform complex visual tasks. I am co-supervised by Prof. James J. Little and Prof. Kevin Murphy.

During my Master's studies, the core questions I have been addressing are visual tracking and action recognition. Specifically, I am concentrating on the problem of modeling changes in target appearance, and recognizing their actions from gestures. I have developed a system that can simultaneously track and recognize the actions of multiple hockey players. More details of this work can be found here.
