Gambling has been historically strictly regulated by government. In more recent years, the shift toward online platforms for gambling as made it harder to maintain such regulation. The situation got more complicated once that gambling moved into the video games environment, providing an enormous exposure to underage people that were previously ‘protected’ by its influence. I’ll provide a wide perspective of the problem, from the recent gambling scandals to esports match fixing.
