Abstract
No Instruments Allowed: An Introduction to Contemporary A Cappella No matter how many p’s you spell it with, there’s no denying that the prevalence and popularity of a cappella music is at an all-time high. But just what is this strange form of music, and where did it come from? In this week’s UDLS, we’ll explore the world of contemporary a cappella, from collegiate glee clubs to professional vocal bands. There’ll be lots of excellent music to listen to, plus the answer to the burning question on everyone’s mind: What is a Whiffenpoof? As an added bonus I will be selling advance tickets to my own group’s Winter concert, taking place December 2nd, exactly one week from now. What better way to complete the a cappella experience than to attend a live show? (Tickets will be available at the door if you can’t make it to the UDLS).
