Abstract
Four weeks ago, the police in Toronto decided to ignore everything that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms stands for and to impose the type of repression that is unheard of and was unthinkable (until now) in Canada. The list of the groups and organizations that have raised issue with the happenings in Toronto and have called for a public inquiry includes Amnesty International, Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Council of Canadians, and many more. This talk will provide a glimpse into the suspension of civil liberties that precipitated during the G20 Summit in Toronto in an attempt to provide at least some semblance of proof that an inquiry is warranted.
