Abstract
Fractals are intricate mathematical objects with infinite resolution that exhibit self similarity on varying scales. You can sometimes hear people refer to them as “those cool crazy colorful pictures”, as can be seen here: http://www.google.ca/images?q=fractals. Besides marveling at the beauty of these pictures, we will look at how they are generated and examine some of their unbelievable properties. You will probably also be amazed how such complicated objects result from extremely simple rules, and hopefully gain a whole new appreciation of these images.
