Jean Poole's Cheese Scones and Fruit Scones

We often used to have the cheese scones on a Sunday evening with soup or the fruit scones for afternoon tea. Our kids like them now.

Cheese Scones

Preheat oven to very hot: 500 degrees farenheit.

Mix flour and baking soda. Rub in margarine. Add cheese and milk. Mix with a knife.

Roll onto a floured board, about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into squares, and shape into rounds. Place on floured baking tray, with scones slightly touching.

Bake for 10 minutes or till slightly brown and a skewer comes out clean.

Wrap in a tea towel to keep warm.
