I've got Master's degree at the Computer Science Department at the University of British Columbia. My supervisor was Dr. Kellogg Booth.
I did my undergrad at the Department of Information Technologies at the Novosibirsk State University in Russia and graduated in 2000.

My thesis was about "Whale Tank Virtual Reality", which was a novel technology, which improved on Fish Tank Virtual Reality technology for large screens. A video of Whale Tank VR is now on YouTube here: link. After graduation I wanted to make a game that uses motion capture technology in the gaming process. So, Garth suggested Space Invaders and I thought it's a good idea. So, here is my MoCap Space Invaders. :) Check the video here. Send rotten tomatos to my e-mail.

Research areas I find the most interesting

  • Bioinformatics (Humans are tricky biocomputers who need a proper debugger to fix their imperfect genetic programs... right, but first we need to hack the code )
  • Machine Learning (Thinking computers are the next rulers of the Earth... but don't tell anyone )
  • HCI (Alright... actually, there is one chance for humanity: make right interfaces to be always in control of the things you make )

  • Other interests

    Hiking/Scrambling
    Skiing (both downhill & cross-country)
    Whitewater rafting
    Basketball
    History (esp. ancient history)
    Mythology
    Science fiction
    Fantasy
    Music (listening and playing)
    Computer games (esp. RPG)
    Board games
I definitely forgot something... so, if you know other interesting hobbies, let me know, probably, I like them too
