CPSC 504: Project Talks
Here is the suggested
format of the project talks. Depending on the extent of progress people have
made in their projects, they may wish to present their projects in two “takes”.
In “take 1” , the presentation would focus on:
- A brief description of the project,
focusing on the what.
- Motivation for the project: why did you
choose to do this?
- Background:
- Related work.
- Technical prelims/notions.
- What are some possible approaches one
could take? Pros and cons.
- Your approach with rationale.
- Project Milestones with time line.
- Conclusions (what did you learn from this
project and what you expect others to take away) and Future Work (what
more would you have have done given more time, or what else would it be
cool to add in).
The take 1 version
would be a short presentation, lasting about 30 minutes.
In take 2, you come
back for a second time to show off your project. The suggested organization of
the take 2 presentation is:
Brief Intro. (in
the form of a recap; introduce problem and motivate it).
Review related work quickly, in order to
position your work and bring out your novelty/contribution.
Summary of your technical contributions.
Details: drill down into each tech.
contribution.
Summary and Future Work.
Each take 2 presentation
should last about 40 minutes.
