The GUIDO Notation Engine
Kai Renz

The GUIDO Notation Engine is a new, flexible, platform independent approach to conventional music notation based on GUIDO. It consists of two parts: the renderer and the frontend. The renderer is responsible for converting an arbitrary GUIDO description into an internal representation of a score, which is then displayed by the frontend. As the renderer is written in Ansi C++ and a prototype of the frontend has been developed using JAVA, the GNE can be used on almost any operating system. This talk will discuss how the renderer handles arbitrary GUIDO descriptions and it will be demonstrated, how the GNE can be used under Linux and Windows.
