The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music at The Johns Hopkins University contains of over 29,000 pieces of sheet music. An adaptive optical music recognition (OMR) software is being developed to create score files, MIDI files, and full-text lyrics for the Collection. The functionality of the Collection will be enhanced by the incorporation of metadata, the implementation of a disk-based search engine for lyrics, and the development of toolkits for searching the score files. The past, present, and future of the OMR software will be presented and demonstrated.
