About me
|
My name is Baharak. It means "little spring".
I was born in Kermanshah, Iran. My family and I traveled to different parts of Iran before we finally settled down in the capital, Tehran, when I was 6 years old. I had a nice and happy childhood despite the Iran-Iraq war that started around the same time I was born and lasted 8 years. I have always enjoyed learning, reading and doing math. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I've never managed to focus on only one subject for long. There are always many things I like to do, I want to do, and I do. When the time came to choose a major for my university studies, I had a hard time making up my mind: math, computers, music, archeology, genetics, .... I finally chose computers! I did my Bachelor in Computer Engineering (Software) at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. I came to UBC to continue my studies in Computer Science. I did my Masters in bioinformatics and continued working on bioinformatics in my PhD for about a year and a half. Then, I took the multiagent systems course and fell in love with the whole concept of game theory. It was a tough decision but I finally changed my research direction from bioinformatics to game theory! Now, I am a PhD student working on game theory at the Department of Computer Science, UBC, Vancouver, beautiful British Columbia. |
