Hi everyone, don't worry about my tongue-twister-like name - call me Ashique. I have graduated from UBC with a masters degree this year. My research interests include Empirical Algorithmics, Computer Music and Game Theory. I am passionate about almost all the creative mediums ranging from music, movies, literature and of course, programming. At present, I am working at Microsoft Corporation as a Software Design Engineer.
I am a trained Indian classical singer and learnt classical vocal for the last 16 years and learnt guitar for the last 7 years. In the interest of my musical training, I did my undergraduate from a college in my hometown under the affiliation of West Bengal University of Technology. During that period, I finished one phase of my musical training. Although I devoted a significant amount of time in composing, performing in shows, and collaborating with classical musicians, I kept my focus on my education, and I received the silver medal in Computer Science Department of my university.
I am a member of the Laboratory for Computational Intelligence, Beta Lab and Empirical Algorithmics Reading Group(EARG). I am supervised by Kevin Leyton-Brown and Holger Hoos.
