I am an Associate Professor in Computer Science at UBC and member of the Distributed Systems Group.

My research and teaching focus is operating systems and distributed systems. I am interested in a wide variety of topics in these areas.

My main interests currently include:

  • scalable and reliable file systems,
  • system software for workstation and PC clusters,
  • cloud storage,
  • mobile computing

Active projects are in the areas of peer-to-peer file systems, mobile ad hoc networks, and scalable system structure. Other recent projects include: Elephant, the file system that never forgets; NetVM, user-mode RDMA without page pinning; and GMS, global memory for PC clusters.
