Some notes on grabbing live action

The speed at which the frame grabber grabs its frames depends on the size of the frame. The larger the frame, the slower grab will be able to grab it. The reason for this is that the frame size is directly related to the resolution of the file that grab will generate, i.e. the larger the frame the higher the resolution. This means that rather than getting frames 1, 2, and 3 from the Laser VideoDisk while it is playing, one may get frames 11, 13, and 15.

The Mode

The effect of this depends on the mode you are in. If you are in the

then it will take these frames and average them together. The thing to be wary of here is: if the number of frames being averaged is too large then the result may look like this:

which won't look great if you are on a monochrome monitor but clicking on the second image will bring up a larger version of it for your viewing pleasure.

If you are in the

Then the software will create multiple images and each will be one grabbed frame. The resolution affects how close together the frames are (i.e. 1,2,3 or 11,13,15), but nothing else.
