Video Transfer between VHS and BetaCam

The BetaCam deck is not on Maybelline, but on a separate trolley of it's own. It usually lives in Imager Light.

VHS --> BetaCam

This is easier than pie! Using a S-VHS cable:
  1. Take the line out on the back of the VHS recorder and connect it to the S-VHS input on the back of the BetaCam deck.
  2. Set the video input switch to S-VHS (this switch is on the front of the unit behind the pop down panel.)
  3. Connect the output of the BetaCam deck to one of the monitors using the cable of your choice (either a BNC cable or a S-VHS cable.)
That's it!

Note: the picture on the screen may not be centered, I am not sure why this is but it doesn't seem to affect the recording. I recorded 3 minutes of 'split' screen video from the VHS deck, and on playback it was fine. I can only assume that the Betacam doesn't sync its output quite properly when it is recording.

BetaCam --> VHS

  1. Using the S-VHS cable, insert it into the BetaCam's S-Video out, and connect that to line in 2 on the front of the VHS deck (behind the flip down panel).
Pretty simple huh?

An alternate method

One can use the the composite ins and outs of the two machines, this is not recommended as NTSC does not produce the best transfer, READ: noisy!
