The objective of today is to have fun
(and
maybe to learn a little about the exciting
world of Information Technology). We
will
be experimenting with building a web
page.
For some of you, this will be the first
time
you have done this. For others, this
may
be nothing new. We have a number of
things
for everyone to do, from the very first
steps,
to some pretty advanced stuff. Go at
your
own pace, and remember to ASK QUESTIONS!!
To Build Your Web Page:
You and your table will choose a topic for
your page. Some suggestions are listed a
little further on in this booklet, but feel
free to do what YOU want. Look at the clipart
for ideas.
- On paper, write out what you want to say
about your topic. Write as much or
as little
as you think necessary. Think about
the colours
and the graphics you may use, and
how you
want your page to look.
- Take a look at the different tasks in the
book. Everyone at your table will
choose
a couple to try. One person will
have to
get the page started, using the first
few
tasks listed. Everyone else can choose
anything
they want. There is no limit to the
graphics
or links you include, the text you
enter,
or the formatting you choose.
- Start on the computer. Your facilitator will
help you get started, and will make
sure
everyone gets a turn.
- After about an hour on the computer, everyone
should be finished with their tasks.
Make
sure your page looks just right,
fixing it
up as needed.
- We will take a quick look at the technology
behind your pages, then each table
will take
a turn presenting their page.
- After the presentations, everyone will vote
for their favourite page.
