Welcome to the Women In Technology 2000 Conference.

This year, the WIT team, made up of IBM and UBC SWIFT team visited the Burnaby School Board on May 25, Tsawassan on June 6, Kelowna on Novemeber 8, and West Vancouver on 8.

At each conference, 100 girls from grades 7 and 8 were welcomed by their school board representative, heard from Janice Wald, Human Resource Coordinator for IBM's Pacific Development Centre, talking about the importance of keeping their options open, and listened to Dr. Maria Klawe talk about the importance of women in technology-related careers, and saw an awesome juggling show.

Lee Burrows from IBM then ran through some definitions about the Internet and web pages, and sent the girls off to work collaboratively on their team's web page.
